If you have decided to ship your vehicle to Hawaii there are some very important things you need to know. Your vehicle must be register able, which means it needs to be street legal and road ready. Inoperable vehicles are allowed but they will need to be put in a container and shipped as freight. To prepare your vehicle you must remove all personal effects from your vehicle. Your vehicle will also need the fuel to be at no more than ΒΌ tank full. The vehicle cannot have any chips or cracks to any of the vehicular glass. The vehicle must also be clean, which means it should be vacuumed and all of the interior hard surfaces need to be wiped down. The exterior should be washed and any mud in the wheel wells rinsed off.
If you are shipping your car from Hawaii to the mainland and you still owe money on your vehicle you will need a letter from the company that financed your vehicle called a lien holder's release form. You will need to give that to the port when you drop off your vehicle in Hawaii.
Before you drop off your vehicle you will need to make a reservation, this is called a booking. To book your vehicle you will need to know the year, make, model and color of the vehicle. You will also need your license plate number and the vehicle's VIN number. Usually this information will be on the car's registration
To book your vehicle you can call Matson at 1(800) 462-8766 or
